Job Description

Looking to hire Network Consulting Engineers.  Individuals will be hired from a broad base of candidates including those holding a CCNP certification or higher (or equivalent knowledge-level).  The job will primarily focus on core routing and switching (R&S) technologies, but may not always be limited to just those technologies.

Cisco Associate Network Consulting Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge as a Network Infrastructure (NI) specialist in core IP routing and switching and advanced technologies.
  • Attending and participating in technical and professional trainings (in-person, virtually, and through self-study)
  • Passing CCIE written certification exams within the first 6 months of employment
  • Additional certifications testing –CCIE lab, CCDA & CCDP will be encouraged within the first 12 months
  • Working directly with customers as a “trusted advisor” (may include some travel throughout the Americas)
  • Completing assignments with a high degree of client and customer satisfaction 

Associate Network Consulting Engineer Long-term responsibilities:

  • Support delivery of service program to major accounts
  • Perform analysis and diagnosis of network problems & designs
  • Review network and customer requirements and produce high and low level network designs
  • Make proactive recomendations to customer based off current network state and future client goals 
  • Plan and execute complex Network Upgrade and Network Migration activity
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex customer network problems across a broad range of technologies
  • Act as a technical focal point for large account network problem resolution
  • Generate reusable Intellectual Capital in the form of standard customer deliverables 

Expected Technical Knowledge

  • Layer 2 Intermediate-level knowledge – All required
    • Spanning-tree (types, foundational knowledge)
    • Ether-channels
    • Switching (mls, cef, etc.)
    • port-security
    • other layer 2 R&S features
  • Layer 3 Intermediate-level knowledge – All Required
    • Routing protocols – At least OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP
    • Port-channels
  • R&S Network Services Intermediate-level knowledge – All required
    • NTP
    • DHCP
    • DNS
    • NAT
    • Syslog
    • SNMP
    • And possibly others
  • Desired Skills (not required) – Any of the following are advantageous (listed from most desired to least desired):
    • DMVPN
    • Multicast
    • Quality of service
    • Nexus Data Center Switches & Data Center technologies (vPC, VDC, OTV, Fabricpath)
    • Programming
    • Security
    • Collaboration (voice, video)
    • Wireless
